The global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic has been expectedly uneven. While some countries are cautiously returning to a new normal, others are being battered by the health crisis. Vaccinations were developed in record time, yet they may not provide complete protection as contagious variants of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 emerge.
