SITUATION:
An unstable woman from Texas began harassing a client executive from a global investment management firm located in New York City, making persistent calls and posting messages on social media. Though they had never met, she claimed that they were in love and going to be married. Despite the client’s repeated requests for her to stop contacting him, she indicated her plan to meet him face to face at his office. To put an end to the harassment and mitigate the threat this woman posed, the client reached out to Global Guardian for assistance.

RESPONSE:
After Global Guardian’s Threat Management team received the client’s request, the team immediately conducted a full work-up of the suspect’s criminal background and social media presence. In their research, they discovered that she already had a separate, active restraining order in Texas and a concerning online presence, making her a viable threat.

The team provided the most recent photos of the suspect and a briefing on the situation to the security team at the client’s building. On the day of the suspect’s planned trip to NYC, Global Guardian deployed security agents to the airport to confirm her arrival and attempt to deter her from taking additional action. Though she dismissed the agents at the airport, she was met by heavy security detail at the building after they were alerted by Global Guardian. She eventually departed the premises upon their warning that they would call the police for trespassing.

Throughout the entire mission, the team liaised with local law enforcement in Houston and NYC and provided real-time updates to the client. Thanks in part to the quick actions and information from the Global Guardian team, the suspect stopped harassing the client following this incident.
