INCIDENT: Guest of a Global Guardian client suffered a stroke while on a trip

SITUATION: 

While in Colorado, a family client arranged for Global Guardian’s Secure Car & Driver services to provide transportation for the duration of their trip. After hosting a dinner, one of the client’s guests fell ill while leaving the restaurant and passed out. Because of a preexisting condition, the high altitude had caused the guest to have a stroke, which no one realized at the time. 

RESPONSE:

Global Guardian’s driver, who was on the scene—and had medical training and years of experience—immediately recognized the signs of a stroke. Understanding that the guest needed immediate, life-saving treatment, the driver rushed the guest to a hospital, arriving within 22 minutes. Once safely at the emergency room, the guest was treated and later discharged with no long-term side effects thanks to the timely intervention.

Our driver’s swift response was critical to producing a positive outcome in this situation. Waiting for an ambulance to arrive at this particular location in Colorado can take up to hours depending on the terrain. Our driver immediately recognized this and drove the patient to the hospital using his knowledge of the local area. That’s the difference between having someone on site with the right kind of training and the wherewithal to recognize an emergency and make fast (and lifesaving) decisions.
