Burning Man 2023

INCIDENT: Torrential Weather strands Burning Man attendees, including Global Guardian clients

LOCATION: Nevada

SERVICE:

SITUATION:

On Saturday, September 2, 2023, during the annual Burning Man Festival in the Blackrock Desert of Nevada, torrential weather turned the sole access road into a mud pit, stranding attendees. Attendees were told to conserve food, water, and fuel. Multiple clients reached out to Global Guardian seeking emergency evacuation. At the time, Global Guardian already had two agents onsite ready to assist.

RESPONSE:

Within hours of receiving the call on Saturday, September 2, a Global Guardian agent accompanied one client and his girlfriend on a 4-mile hike through ankle-deep mud to the nearest functional road, where our team had arranged transportation from the desert to Reno. The couple then caught a flight, arriving safely back home.

On Sunday, September 3, the Global Guardian team assisted an additional client and their friends. This group had originally planned to leave with the couple the day prior but delayed their departure due to a knee problem one of them was experiencing. As the road remained unpassable, a Global Guardian agent accompanied the group through the mud on the same 4-mile hike. In addition, Global Guardian arranged transportation to Reno and for a private jet out of FBO Reno to take the individuals back home.

Thanks to the swift response by our team and pre-arranged transportation, Global Guardian was able to identify a safe evacuation route for both parties and get them home safely.
