INCIDENT: 2019 Sri Lanka Easter Bombings

LOCATION: Colombo, Sri Lanka  

SERVICE: Emergency Response

SITUATION:  On 21 April 2019, suicide bombers carried out six attacks across Sri Lanka, killing approximately 253 people, including 41 foreign nationals. Global Guardian immediately located and notified our clients in the vicinity through our Travel Guardian Platform and Global Tracking mobile application.

RESPONSE: The Global Guardian 24/7 Operations Center contacted the clients and initially directed them to shelter-in-place while emergency evacuation plans were arranged. A Global Guardian response team was then dispatched to secure the clients and transport them safely through military checkpoints and roadblocks to the airport.

Throughout the event, Global Guardian’s Operations team maintained continuous communication with each traveler and corporate points-of-contact to ensure that all those involved were apprised of the situation and fully supported. Thanks to Global Guardian’s well-placed network of international ground teams, client tracking services, and our 24/7 Operations Center, situations like these can be responded to immediately, allowing our clients to have peace of mind when traveling.
