The shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in late 2024 sent shockwaves through boardrooms worldwide, bringing risks to the c-suite into sharp focus. In the aftermath, organizations launched comprehensive reviews of their executive protection strategies, recognizing that traditional security measures need enhancements in this evolving threat landscape. Corporate security teams faced mounting pressure to reevaluate and fortify their approach to executive risk, particularly regarding digital threats, physical safety, and travel security protocols.

In this climate of heightened risk, a large organization's security team sought support to evaluate potential threats to their CEO and strengthen their safety measures.

MISSION AND RESPONSE

Upon receiving the client's request, Global Guardian immediately initiated an online threat assessment to identify any risks to the CEO found in the digital space. This critical first step enabled the organization to understand their executive's threat profile and vulnerabilities. Based on these findings, Global Guardian recommended security enhancements, working closely with the client's team to refine and implement solutions for both immediate and long-term protection.

While the initial assessment revealed no immediate red flags, Global Guardian established ongoing online threat monitoring to identify future concerns, and if needed, escalate investigations and coordinate with local law enforcement. Understanding that threat assessments provide only a snapshot in time, this continuous monitoring ensures proactive threat detection.

Secure Transportation
As an existing Duty of Care client, the organization and its CEO already benefited from Global Guardian's location monitoring and travel risk intelligence services.
