While vacationing in the Bahamas, an Air Ambulance member experienced a medical emergency. After taking a fall, the member was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The member learned they had dislocated their hip and requested evacuation to Pennsylvania to receive advanced medical care closer to home.
Global Guardian’s Air Ambulance division activated within minutes of the member’s call. The mission required rapid coordination between multiple stakeholders, medical providers, and air assets. The team executed against a tight window to minimize patient risk and ensure continuity of care.
From initial intake to transfer of care, Global Guardian managed a complete medical evacuation in 28 hours. Key components of the mission included:
1. Immediate Medical Intake and Triage
Upon receiving the call at 2:00 pm, the Global Guardian Operations Center immediately connected the member with the Air Ambulance division. The team initiated a time-sensitive intake process while the patient was still being evaluated for inpatient admission in the Bahamas.

2. Medical Flight Planning and Coordination
By that evening, Global Guardian had secured complete medical records and identified an air ambulance flight option for the following afternoon, leveraging its vetted and trusted partners. The mission required end-to-end planning, including customs clearance, patient transport, and onboard care team preparation.
3. Doctor-to-Doctor Confirmation
To ensure seamless medical handoff and appropriate facility placement, Global Guardian arranged a doctor-to-doctor consultation between the Bahamas and the receiving hospital in Pennsylvania. This call, held on Saturday morning, confirmed bed availability and guaranteed support by the receiving physician.
4. Safe Patient Transfer
The medical flight departed Saturday afternoon and arrived in Pennsylvania in just over two hours. Ground transportation from the airstrip to the receiving hospital was pre-coordinated, and Global Guardian personnel confirmed a successful transfer of care upon arrival.
