CASE STUDY: AIR AMBULANCE 

INCIDENT: Woman with broken hip evacuated from Indonesia

LOCATION: Bali, Indonesia 

SERVICE: Air Ambulance Medical Evacuation 

SITUATION: After finishing an organized trip to Thailand, an Air Ambulance member decided to embark on a solo trip to visit Bali. While sightseeing in an outdoor market, our member tripped on uneven pavement and broke her hip. A local ambulance transported her to an Indonesian hospital – the last place she wanted to have the surgery that she desperately required.

RESPONSE: Prior to travel, our client had purchased an Air Ambulance membership. After alerting the team that she had been injured and would like to have the surgery back home, Global Guardian Air Ambulance transported our member to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota – a 26-and-a-half-hour trip from Bali. While many air evacuation plans would have transported her only to the “nearest appropriate facility,” Global Guardian Air Ambulance transported our member to the hospital of her choice at no cost to her. At the Mayo Clinic, our member received the treatment of her choice, receiving care from doctors she felt comfortable with in a language she could understand.
